Archive of Selected Work Incentive Grantee Profiles
Descriptions of exemplary Work Incentive Grant Programs funded by the US Department of Labor from October 2000 through June 2006. The US Department of Labor awarded a total of $65 million to 113 Work Incentive Grantees (WIG) within the workforce investment system under this program. The grant funds were provided to partnerships of state and/or local workforce investment boards, educational organizations and community groups to enhance the One-Stop Center System and provide comprehensive employment services to individuals with disabilities. Grant funds were used to procure assistive technology, conduct accessibility reviews, ensure training of One-Stop Career Center staff, develop resource guides and other tools to assist the employment of people with disabilities, and employ disability resource specialists. The competitive WIG Program was transformed in June 2003 from a competitive solicitation to the currently funded Disability Program Navigator (DPN) cooperative agreement, thereby assuring that the essential goals of the WIGs are achieved in the workforce system.
